March 3, 2008 – Hanover, Germany – Samsung Electronics Ltd., the worldwide digital consumer electronics and information technology leader, showcases its low noise and high performance DVD writers, the Super-WriteMaster¢â SH-S223 and SE-S224, and the TruDirect¢â SE-S204, from March 4-9 at CeBIT 2008 in Hanover, Germany.
Samsung¡¯s high performance DVD writers incorporate an aerodynamic frame design that reduces air-borne noise by preventing pressure concentration in any specific area of the drive. Their sound power level ranges from 2.8 Bels (idle, at 3,400 rpm) to 5.3 Bels (22X, at 12,700 rpm), which is well within the general noise range levels of 4.0 Bels to 6.5 Bels in the average home or office.
¡°The acoustic noise level becomes more and more an important factor that consumers consider when buying a PC or its peripherals¡± said Won Kim, vice president of Samsung¡¯s Optical Disc Drive R&D team. ¡±Samsung¡¯s DVD writers operate calmly with normal noise levels even at 20X or the world¡¯s fastest speed of 22X. Samsung plans to continue applying its proprietary technology to lower noise levels.¡±
Samsung¡¯s Super-WriteMaster SH-S223 and SE-S224 feature the industry¡¯s fastest speed of DVD¡¾22X, while the TruDirect SE-S204 offers a speed of DVD¡¾R 20X.
Samsung¡¯s WriteMaster and TruDirect drives ensure reduced vibration and noise by utilizing Magic Speed and ABS (Automatic Ball Balancing System) technologies. Optimized high speed performance is achieved through a combination of key technologies including SAT (Speed Adjustment Technology), TAC (Tilt Actuator Compensation) and Double OPC (Optimum Power Control). In addition, Buffer Under-run Free Technology enables stable writing during high speed operation.
Samsung also offers free multimedia software, allowing users to easily create music, video, photo and data discs. The drives include Samsung¡¯s live firmware update program that enables users to keep their drives updated by downloading free firmware upgrades. Samsung¡¯s DVD drives are also eco-friendly designed and RoHS compliant.
